Reading
Me After You - Jojo Moyes
A sequel to Me Before You, this was an easy and good read. It wasn't what I expected it would be, but it was enjoyable. The ending left lots of room for another book about Louisa.
The Light Between Oceans - M.L Stedman
I've been meaning to read this one for a long time, and I enjoyed it. I loved that it was set in Australia, and I'd even been close to the place where the story took place. Now I'll have to see the movie.
Nookietown- V.C. Chickering
This book had some not-great reviews but I read the jacket at the library and checked it out. I actually thought it was really funny. In short, married women decide to hook up their husbands with divorcees in town. Hilarity ensues.

Writing
I bought a book on writing prompts, which has been fun to pull out every now and then when I feel like writing about something random. I've also had some inspiration to flex my poetry muscles -  I have to be in a very specific mood to do it though.

Clicking
For the past day I've been furiously trying to get my phone back to normal. I just made the big switch from Android to iPhone and I'm still in the process of getting all my contacts over and my apps back. Ugh. I've been spending lots of time on social media lately and haven't been buying anything online.

Watching
Friends from College (Netflix) - I binged watched (and then watched again) the first half of this series a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure in the next few days I'll fly through the rest of it. I haven't LOL'ed at a show as much in a really long time.
To the Bone (Netflix) - I've been waiting for this movie to come out for a while. I love Lily Collins, who portrays a girl with an eating disorder and her road to recovery.
The Story of Diana (TV) - I was always intrigued by Princess Diana and I'm halfway through this two-part series on her life. She passed away the night before I left for my first year at university, which I can't believe was 20 years ago!
Boy Band (TV) - As I'm writing this, we're watching the last episode of Boy Band. I liked the concept of the show, but wasn't always a fan of the host, architects, or the process.
Bachelor in Paradise (TV) - I'm starting to like Paradise better than the regular shows. It's so dramatic.

Eating
Stubborn Goat - I always have a good meal at the Goat. And The Bully is my favourite cocktail in Halifax.
Lot Six- The atmosphere here is great. I wasn't however as impressed with my main course as I hoped to be. I'd definitely go back though!
Gecko Bus - R and I have been splititing large burrito bowls occasionally. It's always so fresh, healthy and good.
Tako Sushi - our favourite sushi spot of late. We always get the deluxe maki.

Drinking
DAVIDSTEA $1 iced teas are winding down next week which is sad.... I've been loving cider as is usually the case every summer. I like making a flavoured tea every morning at work before I get too deep into things.

Seeing
I've got Friends from College paused on the basement TV right now while I work on this post! Episode six.

Smelling
I just washed my hair, so smelling my Lush Daddy-O shampoo

Hearing
The heat pump and what I think might be golf on the main floor TV.

Wearing
Grey sweatshirt, leggings.

Feeling
A little bit of muscle burn in the legs and ankles from hiking High Head this morning. I think we only did half of it, but going up and down all the rocks was hitting some muscles that I forgot I had. Overall, it's been a strange few weeks though - maybe the eclipse? I'm feeling happy for two important couples in my life who tied the knot recently! Both weddings were loads of fun.

High Head

Anticipating
I'm looking forward to Labour Day weekend. Also, one of my dearest friends is going to be in Halifax for two whole weeks in September so looking forward to some quality time with her.

Our part-time houseguest for the past few weeks.

Denim and Ruffles

An easy outfit is a girly shirt paired with some type of denim bottom. In August, the perfect choice for your lower half is a mini skirt. Although I'd had this shirt for two months, this was the first time I wore it. I thought the ruffle might annoy me, but I didn't mind it at all.

Details
Tee and Skirt: Topshop
Shoes: Tory Burch
Bag: Kate Spade
Sunnies: Coach
Bracelet: Michael Kors

After a whirlwind of a week off, with TWO weddings, I'm back to the old grind. Toronto was great and I even got to take a spin around Yorkdale mall, which has changed SO much since I was there last.

My July 2017 Purchases

Every month, I break down my clothing expenses and share them. My quarterly budget is $500. This amount can be rolled into the next quarter if it's not all spent. My goal is to keep my out of pocket expenses within $2000 a year. Gifts and gift cards don't count towards my budget. Since I've been keeping a budget, I'm much more careful with what I buy, and I will return stuff at the end of the month if I'm not crazy about it after hanging it in my closet.

The summer sales continued into July, and I continued to benefit from them! I knew this was a good time to buy some stuff in preparation for a trip or two down south next winter, so some of my finds have vacation in mind. Most of this was bought on clearance, so not available on-line (sorry).

Hat: Aritzia
Reg $30, on sale for $15
I have such a hard time with sun hats because my head is small. I like ones that come down low so there's less chance of it blowing off. This seems to fit snug, sit low and it's packable.

Tunic: Zara
Reg $30, on sale for $10
I originally bought this when it was $16, then saw it for cheaper so ordered it again and sent the first one back! I'm super excited to finally have a physical Zara store in Halifax this month. I'm sure I'll still continue to order on-line but I will now be able to return to store.

Dress: Ricki's
Reg $50, on sale for $25
I hadn't stepped foot in Ricki's for many many years, but the sale sign in the window drew me in and they had some cute sundresses. This will be perfect for a trip south!

Dress: Gap Factory
Reg $45, on sale for $13.50
Another solid choice for a tropical vacation!

Flip flops: Gap Factory
Reg $30, on sale for $15
I'm really picky with flip flops. I don't like ones that look too casual. I like the perforated leather in these.

Romper: H&M
Reg $70, on sale for $15
I'm obsessed with this color. It's soooo pretty. Rompers make me look short (I know, I AM short....) so I'll have to wear heels with this. Now I need a good party to wear it to....

Hat: H&M
Reg $15, on sale for $7
We all know I love ball hats. This was on opening special for the new H&M at HSC. I love love love the new store. It's so spacious and well laid out with two sets of dressing rooms.

Dress: Uttam Boutique via Brilliant
Reg consignment price $40, on sale for $5
I rarely make it to Brilliant because it's downtown and parking is a nightmare, but I was down that way for work last week and was already parked, so you know... their $5 rack called my name! This is a beautiful fitted dress - with pockets!

Skirt: Club Monaco via Brilliant
Reg consignment price $40, on sale for $5
Cute little skirt with pockets. I'm a sucker for pockets obviously. Ignore the wrinkles.

Pants: Banana Republic
Reg $124, on sale for $16
I have a similar version of this pant in crop style and really like them for work, so when I saw the longer version for this price, I had to have them. They're in the wash, so no photo.  Thick chambray blue trousers with a straight leg.

Cardigan:Ricki's
Reg $46, on sale for $13
The sale was buy one, get one half off, so when I got the above dress, I had to get something else.  I need to replace my black summer cardigan every few years and the current one is on it's last legs. Also in the wash, it's an elbow length black cardigan, looser fit with buttons.

Original price of items: $520
I paid: $140
I saved: 73%

There's $360 left for this quarter's budget. I don't have anything in particular in mind for upcoming buys. Toronto is on my radar this month, as I'll be heading there for BFF's wedding. I won't be downtown, but may have a few minutes to visit the Upper Canada Mall. August always brings fall clothes, but I don't usually feel like buying them til well into September.

I hope you scored some good season-end deals in July!
